2011 Kopke LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Rose red colour with a narrow rim and an opaque centre. Fragrant nose with lots of blackcurrants and a deep earthiness. Green bell peppers and redcurrants on the palate with strong tannins and a good acidity. A surprising amount of fresh fruit on the mid-palate leading to a long berry aftertaste and finish. A great length of redcurrants. Lovely but very youthful; a port which will happily cellar for 10+ years. 88/100. Tasted 02-Mar-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
