NV Cruz Pink

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

A 5cl miniature that I acquired at the Cruz Sao Joao party in 2014 and which I have been putting off drinking for 18 months. Plucking up courage I decided to try it tonight. Attractive appearance, the colour of pink salmon; 10% opaque. Nosing of candy-floss and saccharine with plasticiser and wood resin tones - not an attractive combination. Sweet entry, lightly flavoured with a waxy texture and flavour. There is a hint of lychee fruit on the palate but the harshness and bitterness does not allow the port to come into balance. The aftertaste is also harsh with acidity burning but the finish is attractive and enjoyable. 68/100. Drunk 16-Jan-16. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
