1985 Fonseca

By the glass from the Oxford & Cambridge Club (@ £13.50 for a 100ml pour). Deep red with little hint of bricking. An attractive nose of star fruit and bruised cherries. Subdued and reluctant to show the deep chocolate and bitter fruit, but they do eventually come through. Lots of complexity appears on the palate, then delivers a big and sweet fruit finish with a great length. A lovely bottle in need of more time in the cellar. 92/100. Drunk 26 November 2015. Decant time not known.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
