NV Sandeman Cask 33

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

One of the lotes used to create the blend which went into Cask 33. Orange amber colour, quite dark; 50% opaque. A distinctly colheita style nose, showing attractive almond paste with an orange essence. Lovely poise on the palate; a great orange sweetness but fabulously balanced by a great acidity. Great richness to the flavours and a long, long length of concentrated and grapefruit. 89/100. 24-Nov-15. Drunk 4½ hours.

Drunk at Otto's on 24 November 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Cask33. Tawny. Full flavour. More fruit than a 40Y, but similar maturity.
