1965 Kopke Colheita (bottled 2015)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2015. Burnt orange in colour with an olive green rim. Typical big colheita VA on the nose with lots of almond paste but with a fresh salty streak. Thick and slightly syrupy in texture. Golden syrup and sea-salt on the palate which has a good dose of cleansing acidity. There is a honey sweetness and some delightful floral components. Some faint tannins show on the aftertaste, followed by a huge wave of honey and quince. A great length; impressive port. 91/100. 06-May-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
