Port to sell? Excellent! Please post here, with details of what you have, how stored, and where in the world it is. Please start by reading our ‘Standard advice to would-be vendors' and ‘A note to wine merchants’.

Fonseca 1970, Croft 1977, Warres 1975

Post by Anne »

Many years ago my father bought some port as a potential investment. Sadly he died last year and my mother has asked me to investigate whether it was indeed a good investment or not. Having read several topics on this forum, I have my doubts and would appreciate your thoughts. We have the following:

Fonseca Vintage Port 1970 x 7 bottles
Warres Vintage Port 1975 x 1 bottle
Croft Vintage Port. 1977 x 5 bottles

There is another bottle of the Croft but the area around the cork is 'sticky' so I assume it may be no good.

I tried adding photographs but was told the file size was too large, so tried different formats, eg pdf but keep getting the message 'not allowed' so have given up on that for the time being!

The bottles have always been stored on their sides, in the dark, at even temperatures and as far as I know, have only been moved twice during house moves since they were purchased. They can be available in Bournemouth, Southampton, Reading or Swansea.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Anne,

I work in Reading (and hail from Swansea-but no Bournemouth or Soton connection however!) and have sent you a PM.

Hi Anne; You would probably need to resize the image before using it in a post; I normally resize to 20 or 25% of original size which usually then works fine for posting.

Ian

Thank you for your pm. I have tried replying but it appears to be hanging in the Outbox. I'm able to take more photos this weekend and will try uploading them/sending them direct to you.

Anne, PM's stay in your outbox until the recipient opens them.

The Croft bottles and seal. The glass of the bottles is too dark to see the fill levels.
