2012 Noval and 1986 Smith Woodhouse

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

I've been offered two parcels of port, and I'm happy to share the joy with others so please let me know if you are interested in buying into either of the following:

Quinta do Noval 2012 vintage port - offered in 6 packs and priced at £50 per bottle in bond delivered to the UK. (At that price, I am not a buyer but there may be others who are. It just seems a very large premium is being demanded compared to the Taylor Fladgate and Symington ports from the same vintage although I accept only 1,000 cases were made.)

13 six-packs of Smith Woodhouse 1986 LBV @ £14 per bottle in bond delivered to the UK. This is an all or nothing deal, we take the parcel or we don't. If you'd like to put your name down for some of these then please let me know either in this thread or by PM. However, please be aware that I will give priority to people who frequently share in group purchases like this one.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

£84 for 6 sounds good. Yes please, I'll take one; may increase my order dependent on availability, once everyone else has had a shout.

Strange to relate. The case of 12 Noval 1970 at auction in Sheffield today went for a hammer price of 600. One wonders why anyone would pay the same price in bond for the 2012.

That's easy - the Noval 1970 is rubbish and the Noval 2012 is damn good. But I'm still not going to pay £50 for a bottle of the 2012 - I need to cut back, not buy more!
