Seppelt Mount Rufus Vintage Tawny

Post by ians »

Hi All, I would be very grateful if anyone can help me in valuing a very dusty sealed bottle of port found alongside a collection of brandy and whisky when clearing out a friend’s mother’s house. Based on the bottle labelling, which unfortunately has been damaged, probably due to being kept in a basement, it is a Seppelt Mount Rufus Vintage Tawny and it is a 1pt 6floz size. The seal is intact. I cannot see any details of how old it is or when it was bottled but as the port drinker in the family passed away over 35 years ago I think it may have been bottled in the 1980s or earlier but this is purely an assumption based on when the port drinker passed away. Many thanks in advance for any assistance provided. Regards, Ian

HI,

This bottle wouldn't be worth much more than a tenner over in Australia. I doubt there is much data in the UK at auction but wouldn't expect much more. Much better to drink this one.

cheers

In the UK these bottles have negligible value. Open one. If nice, drink it. If mediocre, cook with it. If worse, dispose safely.
