I have in the canteen of my house a bootle of Navidade port embottled in 1890.
I live in Italy close to Bologna (40 km) and this bottle of Vinho de Porto came to my house almost 40 years ago from the canteen of my grandad bar. Since then has been kept in the canteen of my house. The bottle is in perfect condition.
The official price is around 900 euros but I will sell it for 700.
If you have questions just contact me.

Hello Enrico, welcome to the port forum.

Could you please post a photograph of the bottle so that we can try to identify what it is?

If you are thinking of selling the bottle could you let us know the price you are looking for?

Thanks
Derek

Please could you also say:
• In which country is your house, and approximately where within that country?
• How and when this 1890 came to your house?

Thank you.

It looks like the level of the wine is substantially below the base of the neck and there is a stain on the label on the neck that looks very much like evidence of leakage.

I do not think you will find anyone willing to pay 700 Euro for a bottle in that condition.

Is there a bottling date anywhere on the label, or possibly on a back label?

It would be good to know how long the Port was aged in cask before bottling. Burmester has made many outstanding Colheitas over the years.

There is a stain on the neck label but not on the selo. This could be ordinary dampness from a cellar. Hard to be so definitive with such a photo.

There is a stain on the selo, which is torn, that looks very much like leakage to me...

I think it's extremely hard to say what that is.

Could the original poster clarify?

Since then has been kept in the canteen of my house.
Can you please elaborate on what a "canteen" is? Is it an open bar, a temperature controlled area, etc.

If it is a translation of a Portuguese word, please give us that word as well.
