Grubby old bottles without labels

Post by uncle tom » 22:35 Sat 31 May 2014

So you're clearing out an old house, a deceased's estate maybe..

..and there are some grubby old bottles in the cellar that have no labels

I have recently had a superb discovery of old port, and the scary bit is that the widow of a 90yr old deceased gent, after sending his labelled bottles to auction, was about to throw out these grubby old unlabelled bottles until a friend said he knew some people who might pay for them. Which I did.

Not all grubby old unlabelled bottles are worth money, but they can be...

- Do ask here before assuming they are worthless!

This thread should be read by those passing strangers to whom it applies, so has been promoted to ‘announcement’ status, making it appear at the top of the list of threads.

I've got a bottle like this and I have no idea whether to open it and drink it or just sit and hope!
