Port to sell? Excellent! Please post here, with details of what you have, how stored, and where in the world it is. Please start by reading our ‘Standard advice to would-be vendors' and ‘A note to wine merchants’.

Sandeman - Vintage 1977 - For Sale/How Much?

Post by stgatien »

I have in my possession a bottle of Sandeman vintage 1977 port. It has both labels intact and also has written on the bottle "The silver Jubilee Sandeman 1977 Vintage Port".

For various reasons I would like to sell this bottle- not keen on the idea of sending it to auction, would prefer a private sale, I am aware it is not worth a fortune... would anyone be keen to offer me a price for it? or suggest a suitable price to accept?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to :tpf:

Can you please tell us where you live and how/where the bottle has been stored?

Thanks
Derek

I recently purchased some at a belgian auction at 50 EUR/ bottle. It does not come up at continental auctions very often, but if you do want to sell it I would recommend to wait until the jubilee year 2017

The port and I are on the Suffolk/Cambs borders and it has been stored in a dark cool cupboard along with all the wine!

In the USA, yup. And lately more like $50-55 at auction. Not a very valuable vp from this vintage.

I got four bottles at auction pretty cheap (in 2012?). It is not a blockbuster, but I happen to enjoy this wine quite a bit. Best in the month of October. Port for burgundy lovers.

14479 4 bottles 1977 Sandeman Vintage Port, Silver Jubilee $100.00

In the US, folks getting this <80 are doing OK. At <60 they're getting a fair deal. <40, it's a no brainer.

hope that helps.
