92,94 & 95 Vintages for Sale

Post by Gtombridge »

I am a new member that just signed on for the first time. While I really enjoy vintage port, I have come to the realization that I have more of a passion for red wine.
With that said, I have 26 bottles of 1992 to 1995 vintage port that I bought upon release, and have cellared in my father's wine cellar. I have an interest in selling these
in order to acquire some red wines for the cellar. I would love to have these go to someone that would really appreciate them. These have all been properly cellered since release.
I have only tried one of them, a 1994 Fonseca last May when my son graduated from college. It was wonderful.

Below is a list of what I have to offer:

1992 Fonseca 5
1994 Dow's 1
1994 Fonseca 3
1994 Taylor Fladgate 2
1994 Graham's 3
1995 Taylor Fladgate 4
1995 Smith Woodhouse 4
1995 Fonseca Guimarens 4
26 total bottles

Please let me know if you have an interest in all, or some of these.
I would prefer to sell as a group or in several lots, but I am open to any and all good homes for these wines.

Can post a response, or email me at Tombridge@mchsi.com.

Thanks, GT

Firstly, welcome to the boards.

Secondly, port is a red wine.

Third, where are you located.

Fourth we're all friends here, please post prices.

Tom

Welcome to the forum - even if your active membership is likely to be rather short if you are selling your port to buy table wine! We appreciate you thinking of us when looking where to offer your ports.

If you could, would you mind either posting pictures of the labels or transcribing the wording of the labels of the Taylor and Smith Woodhouse '95s.

Thanks

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Hi Tom

I could be interested in either the Grahams or Fonseca '94s. Let me know what you're after for them.

Cheers, Rich.

First of all, thank you for the warm welcome. This seems to be a great bunch of people sharing a common passion.
I am located in the US, in Springfield, Mo. There was a request for pictures of the labels on several bottles. I can do this
over the weekend. The port is in my father's celler, so I will have to make a trip over there this weekend.
Below is what I had in mind regarding pricing. I am not totally sure on actual retail prices, as I just checked some stores on the internet.
Give me some feedback on the pricing, and let me know if you have an interest in some or all. Thanks, GT

Qty approx retail selling price total
1992 Fonseca 5 90 70 $350
1994 Dow's 1 75 55 $55
1994 Fonseca 3 170 150 $450
1994 Taylor Fladgate 2 200 150 $300
1994 Graham's 3 70 55 $165
1995 Taylor Fladgate 4 90 70 $280
1995 Smith Woodhouse 4 30 25 $100
1995 Fonseca Guimarens 4 45 35 $140
26 $1,840

You're pretty close to retail.
Few stores around the states would collectively add up to around 1600$.

Hi again Tom

Would you be prepared to ship to the UK? I understand if you'd rather not have the hassle.

If so I'd still be interested in the 3 Grahams '94 provided shipping isn't prohibitively expensive.

Cheers, Rich.

Hmmm, a quick google seems to suggest it might not be legal to ship alcohol out of the states. You learn something everyday :?
