1984 Dow's vintage port

Post by henrygiles1000 »

Hey
I am wanting to sell 12 bottles of dow's 1985 vintage port but not sure if it would be worth going to an auction. Berry bros estimated it at around £380
Thanks
Henry

I bought a case of Dow 1985 at retail (from Farr Vintners) last year and paid £420 for a case (duty paid) which had been in their storage facilities since shipping - so perfect conditions. I would expect to buy this at auction for about £340, which would translate to a net price to the seller after commissions of about £235. If Berry's are offering you £380 net, that is a good offer.

If Berry's are suggesting that you offer the case for £380 on their BBX trading platform, you have nothing to lose since you only pay a commission if you manage to sell at that price.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
