Hi - would someone be able to point me in the right direction for selling the above bottle of Port. It has been kept horizontal and turned frequently.

I'm not sure exactly what this is, but the lack of any clear description would lead me to believe that this is a low grade blend from Ramos Pinto, a good quality port producer that is not seen very much in the UK (their main market being Brazil). You might get something around £20-40 for the bottle.

You could auction the bottle. If you let us know where you're located we can point you towards some local auction houses who are experienced in selling bottles of port.

Hi AHB,

Thank you for getting back to me, I am in Harlow. If you could recommend some auction houses that would be great.

Regards

Matt

From the fact that the bottle has a selo (the paper label over the cork under the capsule) and given the styling of selo and label, I would guess this to be a ~15yr-old tawny bottled sometime in the '60s; if so, then Alex's comments and estimates seem fair.

If you're based in Harlow and looking for a wine auctioneer, perhaps Sworders might help; their main auction centre is based near Stansted, and they also have an office in Hertford, depending which is nearer for you, and they hold regular sales including wine and port.
