I got given this bottle of port around 30 years ago which has been stored in a dark cool cupboard in the basket that it came in. Does anyone know is current worth, or would anyone want to make me an offer for it?

Hi,

I assume "St Michael" is the old brand name used by Marks & Spencer?

I'm sorry to say it isn't worth much at all - perhaps a tenner - and is likely to be past its best. It will probably still drink ok so I would suggest you open it with some friends.

Derek

Late Bottled Vintage ports are rarely made to be aged in the bottle and the St Michael LBV is one which was not.

I suspect that Derek is overestimating the worth of the bottle, I strongly suspect that it is worth approximately nothing.

But the good news is that it will probably still be quite tasty. I'd suggest you open it and if you like it, share it with friends, but if you're less convinced then use it in cooking instead of a red wine.
