A History of Wine: Great Vintage Wines from the Homeric Age to the Present Day
Author: Herbert Warner Allen
First Published: 1961
Edition: 1962
Code/Source: ASIN: B0000CL7N2
Pages: 304
Comments: In the Preface, the author unashamedly declairs that this book is styled on Bottlescrew Days (AL Simon, 1926) and has re-used much of the material from the classic works of Barry, Henderson, Seltman, Saintsbury, Shand, Simon, Cockburn and others. I enjoy Allen's style of writing and reading this book is a good way to gain the key knowledge contained in the many volumes created by those previous authors. A good addition to any wine library.

A Word or Two on Port Wine Re-iterated
Author: Joseph James Forrester
First Published: 1860
Edition: 1860 PDF
Code/Source: books.google.com
Pages: 40
Comments: Originally published in 1854, this little pamphlet caused much controversy within the trade. This later edition updates Forresters views following significant changes within Portugal and the trade in the intervening years. It is also intended to put the record straight on some of the issues raised by Forrester's opponents.
