Quinta das Lamelas

Post by JB vintage »

Hi,
We found a "new" house when visiting Porto in September: Quinta das Lamelas. Does anyone know anything about this house? At the Vinologia bar in Porto we found Q das Lamelas Vintage 2006, 2007, 2010, and 2012. I have seen tawny as well as white port from them too. Which vintages have they made?

I think I've only seen the tawny port from Lamelas. Did you get to try their vintage ports? What did you think of them?
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

You (and several other here) had the Lamelas 07 VP (bottled 2010) at this tasting: link

So I did. Serves me right for not checking my tasting notes before making such a bold statement.

I know the owner, and have tasted the wines.

Try the WHITE 10Y and the WHITE 40Y - AMAZING

And the hole series 10-20-30-40 Y tawny - SUPER
Any time not spend drinking port, is a waste of time.

I had their 40Y old white at Vinologia in 2012. Top Notch. A must try before you die.

I always had problems with Lamelas, knowing the owner and the house quite well. The Vintages are ok and they tend to produce them almost every year.

The Tawnies were difficult as they used (dont know if they still do) bad spirit in there, resulting in the fact that 10-30 are almost undrinkeable and the 40y is allright. They are quite moderately priced though.

The Douro DOCs are allright.

Best
