The rest of the article is similarly full of praise.

In the same article, Wine Folly wrote:FACT: Although Portugal is smaller than the state of Indiana, it’s home to hundreds of native wine grapes.
This is clearly a nonsensical statement. Is the size of Indiana in any connected to the number of grape varieties that might reasonably be expected to grow somewhere? Or is Indiana a universal unit of measurement for Americans, like football pitches or Wales for us?

The only residents of USA that I know to use their State as a unit of measure are Texans, usually in a "mine is bigger than yours" kind of way. Using Indiana as another arbitrary unit is indeed curious.

I like Bill Callahan's song, made slightly more famous by Gil Scott Heron, I'm New Here:

She said I had an ego the size of Texas,
I said, I'm new here and I can't remember,
Is that big, or small?

I like my socks to remain where they are while drinking wine. I find it quite distracting otherwise.

I know of no one who refers to Indiana for anything. Very nonsensical statement.

Indiana as a comparator for the size of Portugal seems to be quite common on the net (being very slightly bigger than it). Also Maine (which is slightly smaller). A bit like the comparisons between the size of France and Texas
