Just made,
www.jdawiseman.com/papers/placemat/placemats_list.html. This is a set of links to former placemats, relevant threads, and some notes on the placemats’ construction.
This page has three purposes.
• First, when the
British Library makes an
archive copy of jdawiseman.com, these links ensure that the placemats will be included.
• Second, the notes might prompt me to re-use the parts of previous designs that I thought good.
• Third, other users of
the placemat software, and those instructing them, will be able see examples of actual output, along with clues as to execution.
Non-technical readers might enjoy a trip down memory lane.
Feedback welcomed.

I have wondered whether it would be possible to trawl through the old organisation threads to pull together something similar but less structured. As one of the non-technical users of the placemats, I really like this summary.

Please say more about the tasting on 27 March 2007. The name of the file included the string ‟DerekTurnbull”, but he was not obviously a named taster (‟Al-C”, ‟Al-K”, and ‟Al-D”). No, I don’t know.

This was Conky's (Al-C's) first tasting, the H85 having stood in a kitchen cupboard for 20ish years being the inspiration for the event. AHB was due to attend but had to withdraw. Three of the original four attendees had first names beginning with "Al". I therefore changed my name for the day so that my initials would be "Al-D". The venue was Hotel du Vin, Birmingham. H85 was WOTN.

FTR the
placemats make clear that H≠Hutcheson; rather H=Harvey’s, so presumably Martinez.
Was a review posted anywhere else on the web?

This was made as a list of placemats, not of organisation threads, nor of review threads, nor of tastings. Obviously those other lists would overlap with the one made, but there would be differences both positive and negative. E.g.,
Thursday 27 October 2011.

This page of the Tasting Notes section of the forum contains the TN's from the wines tasted that evening, all of which were posted by KillerB.
The review thread is
here.
My memory of WOTN wasn't strictly accurate, which is possibly explained by the award I earned at the end of the evening.

The filename of the placemats said 27th. The review thread said 31st March 2007 (hence my failure to find the review). If the review is correct, I will rename the placemat file and correct links thereto. Please confirm.
Review;
Hotel du Vin, Birmingham; TNs
F80,
G63,
GM87,
D83,
Mz85 (Harvey’s),
NN87,
F70,
F00.

The review thread also says it was a Saturday, which makes sense as other halves were involved and it was in a location where none of the attendees work. 31st March seems the most likely date.

Done.
It is very plausible that, before we learnt how many would be made, I labelled it with a creation date.

Anything But Vintage (I), 05 August 2010 seems to be lacking TNs.
And
the placemats for 02 Dec 2010 seem to be lacking threads more generally. Did this happen at all?

I couldn't make the offline but there is one tasting note of one of the wines posted. You can find a note for the
Quevedo 1996 colheita. However, in that post Ben confesses that he did not take any notes that night and wrote the TN for the Quevedo from memory a week later!
I don't have anything in my diary for 2nd December, nor is there anything in the 2010 offline summary. My conclusion is that the event did not happen.

Some of the placemats made by
Glenn E., typically for tastings (co-)hosted by
Roy Hersh, have been added to
www.jdawiseman.com/papers/placemat/placemats_list.html.

Lots of images have been added to
www.jdawiseman.com/papers/placemat/placemats_list.html. The purpose is to showcase both what
the software can do, and also what happens at TPF. Comment welcomed.
