Hmmm?

I think something else is at play here.

1000ml bottles of CkSR have for a very long time been the fodder of airport "Duty Free" shops (who charge 2 x profit instead of 1 x Duty). If Tesco have a discounted supply of 1000ml bottles of CkSR perhaps the "Duty Free" market has collapsed or cannot absorb the volume produced?

The offers are coming in thick and fast now!

This one is for Sandeman, Ferreira and Offley LBV from 2011, 2010 and 2009 (not all shippers for all vintages) for £5.50-£6.75 in bond per bottle depending on quantity, vintage, shipper etc.

There is also a modest number of Vau double magnums from 1997 and 1999 available...in packs of three only but we can always split a pack between some of us.

Sainsbury have their buy 6 and get 25% off sale on at the moment.

In addition, my nearest branch has Sainsbury Taste the Difference vintage port 1998 and 1999 on offer for £12 per bottle or Taylor 2009 and 2010 LBV at £7.20 per bottle. Vintage port @ £9 per bottle anyone?

My local Supermarkets never have these mythical specials. Grr. If it isn't on the website it won't be in the shop. I will have to go and look (of course), but I don't hold out much hope.

It could be that this is the manager of my local Sainsbury clearing his shelves for the stock due in September. If anyone on TPF wants me to buy for them when I am back in the office on Tuesday, I would be happy to do so.

This Sainsbury offer started last week and I had expected to have finished by yesterday (Weds) but it is still on today and the chap there suggested that it must therefore continue until next Weds which is good as I'm tempted by the Graham's Crusted 2002 that they still still appear to have a number of (whereas other local Sainsbury's only have the 2008 or 2011). Taking advantage of the offer brings the item cost down to £15.

Incidentally, Waitrose also had a similar offer on but you only needed to purchase 3 bottles for the 25% reduction. However, this lapsed on 23 August but not before I availed myself of a few bottles of the Warre Traditional LBV 2003 at £16 a bottle.

Tried a big local Sainsbury's last night but none of the bottles Alex refers to apparent-only the TTD 2003 at an undiscounted £20 a bottle (or £15 with the offer). May try another outlet this weekend.

I also went into a big Sainsbury today (the one on Hadleigh Road in Ipswich) but they only had the 2003 TTD and not on a discount. It looks like the £12 pricing is a manager special for the small store close to my office. Apologies to anyone who hoped to take me up on my offer to clear the shelves for them, but I won't be back in my office now until w/c 5th Sep - by which time I expect the specials shelf to have been cleared.

All gone now. Darn, just when I had saved up enough to buy a thimbleful of it. Anyone prepared to own up to this? Or do we think they might have been ringers and withdrawn from sale?

Keep an eye on winesearcher. Sometimes these things crop up again as one retailer thinks they can get a better price than another. These might well have gone to Hedonism as I know that they were trying to get hold of some.

Sandeman LBV 2011 on sale at WaitroseCellar (onlne) 25% off at £11.99 with an additional £15 off if spending £120 or more with voucher code WNAUTUMN15. Wine has to be bought in multiples of 6, but this additional voucher works out rather well for a case of 12. They do now seem to charge for delivery, but click and collect is free.

If it is as good as the 2009, which is big, rich and lovely, I'll be very happy.

Waitrose / Waitrose Cellar have their usual 25% off when you buy 6 or more bottles at the moment.

If anyone is interested in 2011 VP they have a number of shippers, of note is Fonseca / Taylor 2011 only £56.25 a bottle delivered when you buy 6.

As has Tesco (1997 bob) and Sainsbury's (1999 ttd). Bought a couple of the Sandeman LBV but somehow ended up with Cristal 2007 in the trolley.

Aldi have the following that are listed in their catelogue as being on sale in store tomorrow, and online from Monday 14th, but they are already on the shelves of some stores and already sold out in some!

Maynard's 40YO tawny 750ml - £29.99 (I had a couple of bottles of this last year and also again at the BFT and it is amazing value at this price)

Maynard's 100 years or port presentation pack - £24.99 (4x stacking 20cl bottles, 1 each of 10, 20, 30, 40YO tawny)

Marnard's 1992 LBV - £19.99

These are their main Xmas port releases but there are a few other items in store too.

Tried the local Aldi today-nothing there yet although the shelves look like they were being readied rather than having already been sold out. On a separate note the Warre LBV has been reduced to £14.85 at Waitress, which is great value.

Thanks. Scooped up a few - the additional £15 off £120 helped!

Sainsbury currently have the combined offers of 25% off 6 bottles or more of wine/port, and reductions on some ports.
Specifically, they have:
- Graham's Malvedos SQVP (currently vintage 2004 in our store) at £23 instead of £27; or £17.25ea instead of £27 if buying as part of 6 or more.
- Graham's Crusted (currently 2011 bottling in our store) at £15 instead of £20, or £11.25 if buying as part of 6 or more.
The vintages of Grahams Crusted seem to vary significantly from time to time, and store to store, so your perception of value may vary; the combined saving of ~40% is at least pretty damn good in any case.

Laithwaites currently selling Andresen 40 yo tawny (2016 bottling) at £60 for a 750ml bottle. Using a LINK50 code for a £50 discount if you spend £120 you can get them for £70 a pair (plus delivery ~£10).

Have checked this lunchtime and my local (to work) Sainsbury still has the 2002 Graham's Crusted (and quite a few of them) plus the 2001 Malvedos.
