Warre's 1977VP during dinner @Buckingham Palace

Post by gerwin.degraaf »

Our royal Family is on state visit in the UK. :D

One member of the Dutch press was invited to attend the dinner (in total there were about 170 people), the menu served (including the wines), and he shared the menu.
Excellent wines (1990 Latour  ) were served, and Warre's 1977 VP with desert. :663300: :663300:

That’s a lot of bottles of Latour and Warre’s for that many people.

For 170 people who won't be drinking much that's about 3 to 4 cases of Latour 90 and 1 case of Warre 77.

The Latour is £9-10k per case on WS so I think I'd rather be paying for the Port

Yes, quite :D . I presume that the Latour (the Warre's as well) have been in the royal cellars for some time however (I expect the palace to have enough cellar room to stock up when the prices are good 88) , so the costs will have been somewhat lower/acceptable  .

Looks like an excellent menu, as well as the wine, finishing off with one of my favourite ports. My invite must have been lost in the post ;)
