That bottle would sell for between £500 and £1000 from a reputable wine merchant and at the lower end of that range at auction or a private sale.
It also happens to be fabulous Port provided it has been stored properly. The fabulousness cannot be overstated.

Re: Valuation Question
In rough agreement with DRT. In top condition this would retail for £800-1200, and hence you would be likely to obtain £400-600 if you were to sell it privately or at auction. Regarding condition, the capsule/seal looks good, but you would need to check the level of the wine in the bottle; if this is in the neck, and the wine is a deep red colour, then your bottle is excellent. If below the join of neck and body of the bottle, or the wine is faded/orange, then this these would reduce the price significantly. And yes, if it is good condition, this is a fabulous port.
Re: Valuation Question
Ok wow, that’s amazing. I will check the cork and Liquid level tonight. Without sounding stupid how can I check the colour the bottle looks very dark, I presume a torch ?
I understand there is a for sale part of this fours so I may list on there later this month.
Thanks for your replies.

Re: Valuation Question
The capsule looks original, but the label says 'decanted from the original bottles..' - although the space for the decant date is left blank.
Decanting removes the port from its sediment ready for drinking, and it used to be common practice for wine merchants to decant bottles as a service to their clients. However, once separated from its sediment, vintage port does not age well, so a decanted bottle should be drunk without too much delay.
I would be inclined to believe that this bottle has not been decanted, despite what it says on the label; but if you offered to sell it to a wine merchant or at auction, I suspect that label text would adversely affect its value.
It is however, a superb wine to be gifted to you!

Re: Valuation Question
Thanks for the feedback Tom, appreciated.
I've only ever tried supermarket port to date, some of which I do like and is vert drinkable, if not too drinkable.
Decisions, decisions .. deciding whether to keep or sell at the moment.
