Interesting article and reply from Adrian. I know the discussion on irrigation is one which has been going for a while, but as far as I know the current rules forbid irrigation of port grapes once the vines have established themselves.
But then Prats + Symington are a table wine producer and make only a tiny amount of port. Anyone know what the rules are around irrigation of grapes for table wine in the Douro?

From what I recall it's ok to irrigate vines used for dry wines. And IIRC, one can also irrigate older vines used for Port with prior permission.
