Forum signatures

A number of people on the forum include interesting things in their forum signatures. AHB's signature caught my attention today (see below). A favourite port so far in 2017 of a port which he awarded 85/100. Then a favourite port of 2016, which was tasted in February 2017! What's that all about?!

I too have noted this strange inconsistency, I cannot believe that a Taylor LBV would represent the highlight of a 30 minute period of Alex's port habit. Phil too was apt to have a signature which was thought provoking, however I found the last one bewildering, even after it was explained. But he has no signature at all at present, perhaps he is consulting the logicians and cryptographers of the world before confusing me some more. :D

I think he is trying to create a cryptogram that describes the chances of a re-corked bottle being corked :-(

All I can say in my own defence is that I must have last adjusted my signature on the train on the way home after a port night. You are quite right to point out the error in my 2016 port of the year and that's now corrected. My port of the year (so far) for 2017 was the Taylor 2010 LBV (from half bottle) at the time I last updated my signature (being slightly better than the Cockburn Special Reserve, my other bottle of 2017). I haven't posted any other tasting notes yet for 2017 so haven't yet updated my signature - and won't post any tasting notes until I've had time to transcribe my hand written notes. But, for what it's worth, based on the notes that I have transcribed so far in 2017 my Port of the Year (so far) would be the Gould Campbell 1977 we had at the large format tasting.

Phil's new signature seems a bit, well, you know.

I’m not a fan of forum signatures: mere repetitive distraction.

They can be if they're obnoxiously long. Regardless of screen name, my signature is the same on any wine related forum I'm a member of.

I've gone for a little word-play this time, though I fear it may be too simple and may not last long therefore.

I have joined the throng of those with signature puzzles. Don’t use google.
