Port Vintages - Slow to mature but worth the wait...

On 20th March 2008, following discussions that I cannot remember, Julian D. A. Wiseman posted this thread...

Big house, big year, but no vintage port!

That (and no doubt a few glasses of port) caused me to post this less than a week later...

Useful Information

I distinctly recall that very shortly after those posts were created Julian told me the only way to satisfy the need was to write a book, and so the concept of "Port Vintages" was born.

This evening, after many thousands of hours of research, transcription, editing, proof-reading, slacking by me and the justifiable sacking of a once enthusiastic co-author, Julian handed me one of the first eight unpublished copies of Port Vintages.

I am immensely impressed with what Julian has achieved in producing this book, and very proud to have been an active part of the first few years of its creation.

Well done Julian :D :660033:

Well, ordinary publishers are being much less enthusiastic than the audience. It is now likely that there will be a crowd-funded publication, being arranged. Links will be posted; after which please register your passionate enthusiasm in the obvious way.

I have just managed to spend an hour browsing through this great tome and I must say you have done a splendid job. I would encourage all Port enthusiasts to support your intended crowd-funding campaign to ensure a published edition is made available very soon.

It is an excellent book and deserves to be published. Any progress on the crowdfunding initiative?

Our youngest went to University last autumn. Three visits in five months persuaded us to evict him from his bedroom and turn it into a library/office. Yesterday I took delivery of a very fine antique bookcase that is now part of that room...

I expect a decision will take a few more weeks.

DRT: next to Sellers! Honoured, indeed.

I'm afraid not. Any chance of self-publishing?
