Well at least Alan can add another 1963 vintage port to the list of birth year ports consumed. Pity you didn't manage to drink the whole bottle between you all ... or did you? Alex I think the answer to that would be yes  Derek - do you still have that cork? I'm sure that's a 5... No. I had a...

A great evening. Some very nice ports were served blind with not many guessing correctly. The Fonseca 77 and Dow's 80 were extremly good. A couple of disappointments with off bottles but so many were served it did not detract from the fun. Surprise of the night was Cruz VP 1989 - there long debates ...

+48 Hours

Not worth a note. Rather soft and uninspiring - not sure if I like this stuff but willing to accept it is far too young to enjoy.

KillerB, I hear and accept the wisdom of your thinking. You win by a country mile. I too was seduced into thinking the Sandeman trio, and even some of the other non-F's were in some way "inferior" ports. The truth is that all of what we consumed that night would stand on its own feet and g...

I was talking relatively. I hear what you say, but bomething like F75 or F83 is definately low-end compared with F27 or F77. My point is that adding more wallets and dropping F75, 80, 83 and 00(too young) from the line-up may open up the possibility for 1 or 2 more 40+ year old wines to savour. Derek

The tinfoil has been purchased. I have 10 metres of it so anyone who needs some, it's yours  I have to confess I did feel slightly suspicious walking into a fairly posh London hotel lobby with a bottle of Rioja in one hand and a pack of tinfoil in the other. I'm sure some strange things have h...

OK, if you're getting into predictions I'm going for a long-shot for the 2007-08 season: 1. Celtic or Rangers to win the Scottish Premier League 2. The other one to come second 3. Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen to make up 3rd, 4th and 5th in any order 4. Scotland to fail at the final hurdle to qualify fo...

15 bottles of Port is enough for 5 people - honest. I think we proved this in Birmingham . I can't remember - I was asleep  Anyway, we now have 4.9 confirmed attendees, 0.1 who just needs to say "yes, I'm definately coming", one who needs to sort some reasonable travel from the other...

I pay around £5 per case per annum (pro rata for mid year ins and outs) at Seckford Wines. They only allow unbroken cases. A "case" is either 6 or 12 bottles and both are charged at the same price which could be a problem for your Lake of Morgan's  They are very efficient and provid...

Without getting into the scary world of working out the number of bottles that have gone on and off the cellar list in the past 12 months, I think I have bought around 10-12 cases, the vast majority being at the low end of the price spectrum at under £10 per bottle. I have also used up my entire all...

Jay, You are obviously welcome to share all the other bottles but I thought you would be best placed to tell us how the 2000 was "coming along"  I do hope you can get over - this line-up is starting to look fairly specacular and a few more mouths (and wallets) may enable it to ...
