Re: Private tasting

Romariz Colheita 63 I'm interested to hear how this bottle shows for you. I have had it twice with wildly different results. The first time I had it in Porto it was wonderful. The second time was a bottle I purchased over the internet, and while it was very nice right after the bottle was opened it...

Santa Eufemia 30YO White Tawny Correct! Quinta do Vale Meao 2007 VP We tried, but Goncalo was unable to locate any. Apparently word is already out that this is one of the best VPs of the vintage. Have I? OK. Hmm... I thought I did. If you do not have such a PM yet, please let me know and I'll send ...

Re: One quiz at a time

1952 Dalva Golden White Colheita bottle #2 That would be cheating! The primary reason for the purchase was to secure a couple bottles of 1952 Dalva Golden White Colheita ... Name any of the other bottles that I ordered. DRT's first guess was really quite close, with allowances made for the spelling...

Re: One quiz at a time

I just finished a purchase from Goncalo at Vinologia which is being shipped to jdaw1 in Paris for me to pick up in a couple of weeks. The primary reason for the purchase was to secure a couple bottles of 1952 Dalva Golden White Colheita before a) the price gets out of control (which is already prett...

1 x 1970 Taylor @ $120 (chipped capsule) 1 x 1970 Taylor @ $115 (old sos) 1 x 1977 Graham @ $80 Was out-bid on a 1963 Fonseca which went for $230+premium. I realize that's still a good price (for the US) for that bottle even after adding 12% buyer's premium, but I just have a hard time paying that m...

The answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42! Glenn, We are from the same generation and share many beliefs, but I have to break the news to you that that is not exactly true. Hard though it may be to accept, 42 is not the answer to everything. 6x7 being an obvious example. No no no no no...

Re: Latest buy

i see auction prices creeping up all over the place unfortuinately Hmm, I'm not seeing that. What I'm seeing are lower reserves at auction and those lower reserves are getting people to come out and bid. That's pushing the hammer prices up to about where the reserves were before. It's the internet ...

Re: Latest buy

I just picked up an '85 Fonseca and an '85 Graham as a gift, and added in a magnum of '94 Graham for myself.

Prices in the US have recently dropped rather significantly, so I think an economic adjustment has finally occurred.
