Re: Thursday 19th May 2016, 66@50
I would be interested in filling up a space and if that's possible then I could arrange it with TC to adopt one of his bottles. Or contribute with some money in the pot?

Re: Thu 30 Nov 2017: Sandemans and 1970s
Hello, all this sounds too interesting! I don't know Natalie Williams but my birthday is a week prior to the event and I'd love to celebrate it with nice port!
I hope I can be included to the attendees.

Re: 1999 Vesuvio
Clear deep dark red colour. There is something I cannot define on the nose that I really like, cherry, raisins, vanilla, cinnamon and other spices. The palate is sweet and warm with ripe red fruit, good balancing acidity and a good finish. Dia- 91/100- 24/02/2016

Re: 1998 Vesuvio
In a comparative mode (against the 97) this has a thinner and somewhat closed nose. It is sweet, the mouth shows initially a lift of black fruit without following through to the aftertaste which is medium in length . It is generally lighter and slightly hot/alcoholic, I am not sure how it will devel...

Re: 1997 Vesuvio
Clear very deep dark red with vibrant red hues. There is a lot going on here. The nose is packed with jammy dark fruit, black cherry, plums but also coffee, chocolate and mint. On the palate it's sweet, with high balancing acidity, a full body, soft tannins and a long finish. The 1997 Vesuvio showed...

Re: 1996 Vesuvio
Clear very deep dark red colour with light brown rim. Somewhat dull in colour compared to the 97 Vesuvio. The nose holds some dark fruit and spice aromas . On the palate it feels slightly hot/alcoholic and thin lacking in complexity. There is a good acidity here but overall I get a feeling of imbala...

Re: 1995 Vesuvio
Clear deep dark red with a clean nose of sweet plums, coffee and dark chocolate. Although it is not multi-layered, this has forward aromas that follow through to the sweet palate and seems developed. The tannins are soft with enough acidity to balance the sweetness and the finish has a medium+ lengt...

Re: 1994 Vesuvio
Clear medium dark red. The mouth holds nicely here, bursting with plum, red damson jam, ripe banana, tobacco and some smoke. Sweet palate, with lovely balancing acidity and spices. Very good length.Dia - 93/100- 24/02/2016

Re: 1992 Vesuvio
Clear medium darker red colour. The fruit is there, surprisignly I get ripe banana (?), mocha, raisins and chocolate. Sweet, with high enough acidity to keep it fresh and vibrant. The tannins seem to want to go mellow but my gums experienced a slight grippy feel. Maybe this is one to cellar for a bi...

Re: 1991 Vesuvio
The colour is clear medium red with a light brown tinge on the rim. The nose is mouldy ( not heavily though). Although corked the wine seems to hold plenty of fruit in the backround sadly unadentified. Sweet palate. I look forward to trying this again and reassess.

Re: 1990 Vesuvio
Clear pale to medium red with light rim and bright hues. The 90 felt more complex in terms of aromatic character with concentrated red fruit, fig, sultanas, liquorice, caramel and vanilla with hints of tobacco . Beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness with a very long aftertaste.

Re: 1989 Vesuvio
I found the 89 having slightly brighter pale+ red colour compared to the 90, with a clean nose of black cherry jam, chocolate, treacle, vanilla essence, mint tones. sweet and warm on the palate with high balancing acidity, soft mellowed tannins and extemely long aftertaste. Wolfgang and everyone - thank you very much for organising a complete vertical in perfecion and for being so wellcoming; it must have been such hard task to decant 23 bottles and arrange this all so carefully, well done! It was great to meet Johnny and get an inside knowledge of the Quinta as well a...

Re: Wed 24th of February 2016 Vesuvio tasting
Hello, My food order for the evening to follow: Can I please have smoked mackerel with apple and fennel as a starter and a rare chargrilled sirloin steak with hand-cut chips and grilled tomato as main with creamed spinach as a side. Also in terms of port, shall I bring anything? The oldest vintage I...

Re: Wed 24th of Feburary 2016 Vesuvio tasting
Hello, I've been new here for almost a year now :P However I have never attended any of your tastings. Just wondering if I could be included in the reserve list for the Quinta do Vesuvio Vertical on the 24th of February . I haven't tried many Vesuvios but I am quite keen to learn more of their style...
