I cannot resist. After an American politician mixed up 'your' and 'you're', I was reminded of the following:

Re: 1991 Warre
The Warre is still drinkable, and improved somewhat over the next couple of days. I have 11 more bottles of it, and will steadily go through it over the coming weeks. In general, I find Warre a lighter port than a Fonseca, Taylor, Graham or Dow, and it has not been the WOTN when I have put it up aga...

1991 Warre
80% Opaque. 12 hour decant.
Unsophisticated, simple, thin, sweet without that much flavour.
Drinkable, but not something I would often crave.
My current cellar defender.

Re: General query on maturity in half bottles
In which case, what about the maturity of magnums or double magnums? Would these be twice the maturity of a regular bottle? The magnums I have had of older ports have not drank that much differently than regular bottles (next Christmas, by way of experiment, I will give a try at a 77 Graham magnum v...

If they have not been sold, I would like to buy them when I am through Edinburgh next month. Let me know by pm at what price you might be interested to sell them.

Port maturity question
Although we tend to follow the guideline that vintage port should be at least 21 years of age, I can only think of two vintages that I thought might be "past it", the 1950 (only had Cockburn) and the 1958 (Warre and Sandeman)- and there seems to be a recent assessment among the members her...

A 1985 Dow in 1988. Forgive me. I knew not what I was doing, but I really enjoyed it.
Whilst I certainly had a couple of more in between, a year later, my friends bought a 1966 Graham for my wedding, and I was hooked. The 1966 Graham is still one of my favourites.

Perhaps it is my imagination, but it seems that before 1977, so many of the vintages were either spectacular or very ordinary.LGTrotter wrote:Is there an answer as to which vintage, or vintages, are like the 85s? As I said before I can't think of any.

Re: The Taylor 1985 Debate
Very interesting dialogue on the Fonseca, Graham, and Taylor. Any recent thoughts on the 85 Croft, Dow, Warre, Cockburn, Sandeman? From afar, it appears that a highly objective, completely scientific "Great 1985 Horizontal" experiment is in order - blind, of course (as we shall be by the e...
