Good depth of colour, red even into the rim; 40% opaque. Cinnamon and cedar on the nose, with a hint of eucalyptus behind. Lovely thick texture; evolved flavours and still - surprisingly - a touch of tannin. Sweet, with lovely floral elements; perhaps some slightly harsh acidity upsetting the balanc...

Gerwin, Another nice note from you! And, yes, jammy is an english description for very sweet fruit. Since this was a different bottle, would you mind if I asked one of the admins to separate this tasting note from the earlier one so that they show up on the tasting note index as two separate tasting...

Re: Buyer's guilt...
Point out that this is an investment as wine is going up in value and that you bought twice what you need. Withdraw the case from bond now, thus saving 2½% on the rate of VAT applied compared to withdrawing the bottles after 1 January. (This is a bargain, explain to the better half.) Open an account...

It rained a little in the Baixa Corgo on Friday, but barely enough to wet the dust. Saturday was hot and sunny, Sunday cooler and dry. Night time temperatures are cool mid-teens. Today is bright and hazy.

Re: Something for November
I've not heard that saying before; it made me smile. On the days when I'm working in London, I'm in sight of St Paul's (not old - not sure when it was finished, but built after the fire of Lonon in 1666), walk past the Tower of London (middle aged, at a little under 1,000 years old) and buy a coffee...

A bottle that I've had for some time, opened because I needed something that wasn't port. Absolutely wonderful wine. Mature and at its peak, this was a lovely shade of burnished orange; smelling extremely inviting, full of oranges and floral perfume. Exquisite flavours, both sweet orange and a lovel...

1995 Croft Quinta do Roeda vintage port
Decanted off a large amount of fine sediment sludge. Wonderful smell of blackcurrants during decanting. Deep red colour, opaque. Nosing beautifully of dry blackcurrants. Mouthfilling impact, huge waves of blackcurrants and blueberries; massive acidic structure, supporting the spicy tannins. Big afte...
