G-Man and Sushi North & I had discussed this long ago. The issue for me will be December--just too busy a time of year. January much better.
I have a Ferreira, Souza, Grahams & Fonseca.

Re: How to record personal tasting notes
Excel spreadsheet. I have tasting sheets which I immediately transcribe to the database--even if just a score and couple of quick notes. I like it, its searchable and I can keep track of my inventory and what I've drunk easily.

Re: Buy 1997?
I think they need some time to develop. Not in a great place at the horizontal, but I think many will become if not great, at least good. Gould and Smith Woodhouse showed quite well - perhaps the big beasts were slumbering? Methinks 1997 may be like 1980 & 1983....under the radar with a few ste...

Re: Selling an unopened case of 1994 Vintage Dow's Port!!
Please tell us where you are located.
Would suggest opening the case to ascertain bottle conditions (fill levels, signs of seepage, etc)
Your storage is not the best, but not the worst either. Please see section on selling port on this website.

Re: Sighted, Blind: advantages, disadvantages
One reflection on the format of the event. Judging 12 blind ports across 3 vintages and 4 shippers was not easy. Had it been 15 with the addition of another shipper, I would have been well and truly lost. I also wrote a grand total of zero tasting notes, partly because I was more focussed on workin...

Re: 1991 Warre
I just one a month ago and thought much more of it than you....but it did fade fast. Not a great port, but lovely all the same. My notes... Showing signs of faded purple into brick red, slightly opaque. Strong, yet dry nose of flowers and strawberry--one of the most odoriferous ports I've had. Very ...

Re: Can you recommend a port glass?
My only complaint with the Riedel glasses is they break far too easily. I had a dozen and am down to four after six years---all but one were broken without a drop, a few when gently hand drying. Lest you say I'm too clumsy, have broken hardly anything else in that span. I bought two cases of Marjori...

Re: Corgo Port
Sadly, this was completely oxidized and mostly undrinkable...flavors included orange and slight nuttiness but a dominating pine resin spirit just crushed any possible enjoyment....not meant to be aged that long and stored poorly so did not expect much.

Corgo Port
Anyone know anything about this one? I'll take any info, even in general about the producer. Appears as a basic ruby. Out of my step-dad's house--expect been there for many years. Its been stored upright, very depressed cork, looks like a tawny with sediment in the bottom so I expect nothing; but wi...
