Re: Selection of 1975 Port for Sale
No skin in game being other side of the pond, but the under stairs have not been kind to the bottles. Most show signs of seepage, which means conditions their weren’t so good for long term storage. That will affect, by a great deal, their overall worth. Which isn’t a lot to begin with, sorry to say.

Re: 2020 Declarations
Well, Andy, Warre made 6000 bottles of 2009 and you can still buy it at release price here in the UK. I agree that 2400 bottles is a smaller release, so you may be right. But both of them are equally tiny by port standards. What did they make of 1977 - 180,000? That is precisely why 77 (and similar...

Re: 2020 Declarations
Broadly, I take the view that the houses can charge what they like for the declarations. Given the maturity curve, the real market for port is the secondary market. I suspect these will be perhaps half the price in 10 years in real terms. 15 years ago I would have agreed. Today, I don’t. These will...

Are you sure it’s for 3 bottles? USA pricing just came out and they’re $300/bottle (usd) for the Grahams. With a Slight discount for buying a three pack.

Re: 1994 Warre (cask sample)
Generally speaking, cask samples are hand drawn bottles and will age much faster. At least that has been my general experience with older ones I’ve had.
That said, of the ones I’ve had some held up much better than others. No clue why.

Re: Selection of Port for Sale
These are not special. The LBVs might be worth £10 each; the tawny and ruby not as much as that. I realise that this news might be unwelcome, but it is what it is. Could you drink them, and remember the deceased? Have you friends — better might be acquaintances — to whom you could give them? I conc...

Re: Latest buy
Yesterday I've opened another bottle of these old ones. I picked one who had lost quite a bit - so I was wondering if it is still good. After the removal of the cap I saw that the cork has fallen into the bottle... no good sign. I don't know how long ago that happend... So I poured a glass, and hey...

Re: Offer of Very Old Tawny Port in Bulk
Agree with Glenn. It was a moderate curiosity, rather simple, that is obviously now suffering quite a bit from bottle age, and probably being a bit average before that. I’d be interested in a few as a curiosity. But the price would have to be quite cheap. This is not worth anything near €100. Perhap...

The “Récolte 1958” (= Harvest 1958) is strangely ill-fitting to some of the other words on the bottles. Agree. I don’t think I’ve seen something labeled very old/old and then have a year on a neck tag as well from back then. But weirder things have happened. No Selo’s as well. Regardless, seem to b...

While there is no doubt more than one answer. One is the Douro uses groups of seasonal traveling pickers from other regions and also from within.

They are probably hand filled. One would need to bottle a lot of them to make it worth the investment of buying a special bottling machine for such a small bottle.

Re: 1994 Quevedo Colheita
I’ve not had VA in this, and I’ve had it a number times over the past 10-ish years, including direct from cask. But it’s always been slow to develop tawny characteristics, as the base product was such a nice Port from a great year. I prefer the 1992 as it’s more developed into a tawny. IMO, this one...

We still don't seem to have an effective vaccine against a corona type virus - but I have studiously kept taking the liquid medicine - which might, just possibly, have given me more protection than anything stuck in my arm.. Re: Offer of Very Old Tawny Port in Bulk
I’d be interested. But here’s the thing. There is a lot of these family tawnys around the Douro. Most are pleasant but not great and not worth a ton of money. Tread carefully.
