Re: Tue 24 November 2020 - A Tasting with Sophia Bergqvist
I’d also be interested to hear from someone who is responsible for a more tawny-centric house. Like the chaps who are running Quinta do Mourão but I don’t think I’ve met any of them. I am currently in line organising something with them. If successful, I will certainly let you know. All best Axel

I think Sophia would be impressed by the lineup we are having in total. Time to get over Covid and have a proper glass of everything in good company.

I have a vast range of Sophia's Ports, but think that I will retaste 2011 as no one else does.
Maybe I will "coravin" a glass of 94 afterwards.

Great topic. Had a telefone chat with Ana Rosas today and she also could not explain why there is no 66 RP. It was a tough time for the company, they had to sell certain Quintas and focussed on Tawnies.
Very sad

As they often store the bottles without the label, the newly released bottles might differ a bit. Happened to the 85s. There are differnt versions.

Re: Sparkling Port
I was at a Port fare in 2007 when Croft launched the Pink Port and everyone thought "what is next?". Sparkling Port was a hot candidate at this time. From a business point of view it is vital to swipe the bad dust off the Port's image - make it more female and younger, but keep the good du...

Today I would very much like to toast to a very special producer and also raise my glass to one of the distinguished personalities in this company, who unfortunately just passed away: James Symington. My deepest condolences to the family. There are very few producers who are able to guarantee such a...

Does it matter if you sell these? I believe the PR value is off the books. So why bother with pocket money?

... but it also is true with all other wines. Good labels are not really visible in movies.
One of my favourites "a weekend at Bernie's" shows two: a 82 Mouton discretely on the table and a Belle Epoche (year unknown) which is occasionally drunk. Already some 30y old...

Re: Vintage 2020
The real question is 2015. Everything I've heard about that non-declaration is... strange at best. For 2015 I only think one needs to get rid of the "english hat" and the answer is easy: it was a general declaration. For those from the US it must be easy to do this. I have tasted pretty m...
