I don't think there will be much need for a 'Dutch corner'.
In general, Dutch people are quite comfortable reading and writing the Queen's English.

:) But the thought is much appreciated.

I'm really enjoying this one at the moment.
A really lovely Port which, although perhaps a tad sourish, can stand the test with all the 10 year old blended Tawnies I had so far.

2001 Cockburn LBV

2001 Cockburn's LBV Filtered. Bottled in 2007. Decant +1: Colour deep black with cherry red rim. Full body with loads of cherry, some grape, plum, molasses and chocolate. Disappointingly short aftertaste, slightly mineral with green grapes added. Some tannins. Decant +3: Aftertaste is getting a bit...

Difficult to pick just one. The Taylor's was a bit too sweet to my taste. Croft was the least sweet (which I liked). I'd say the Churchill and Croft had the richest palette. The Churchill needed a lot of decanting time to fully open up though. The Warre's was really nice too, but only if you drink i...

As a fellow trainee Port enthousiast, I recently had a few LBV's by different producers, just to experience the difference in styles (and because a LBV is a bit more easy on the wallet than a VP). I found them very usefull in training the taste buds in recognizing the different flavours and smells. ...

2001 Warre LBV

2001 Warre's LBV (Filtered) decant +1: Very hot!! Very dark cherry-red color. Nose of cherries and liquorice, cocoa and something vegetable (cucumber?). Palette of Cherries, raisins and plums. Nice and long aftertaste with gooseberry added, although the alcohol is a bit too prominent. decant +3: He...

I haven't had a Kopke VP yet, but there's one 1980 waiting for me. take a back up bottle is all I'll say. Their VP's are, well whats the polite way of saying this...below average  Now their Colheita's are just spectacular and some of my favorite across the board There is a risk that the 1980 w...

Kopke is a very good producer when it comes to aged tawnies, but has a lesser reputation in Ruby-style ports. In the last couple of years the standard of their vintages has gone up. The 2000, 2003 and 2005 are all very enjoyable and reasonably priced. The LBV isn't worth much though. You can wake m...

Which makes me wonder: which Port wines are in the 'second division'?
I noticed that (for instance) Kopke, whose Port wines are widely available over here, doesn't get much mention on this forum. Is it a 'lesser' Port?

IVP seal explained

Staring at an empty bottle of Fonseca Bin 27, I was wondering what those combinations of numbers and letters mean on the IVP Garantia seal. In the centre of the circle there's a 6 digit number, 438465 . Above the centre there's WO . Below the centre there's 03 . Looking at a Dow's 2000 VP, I see: 89...

A couple of years ago I visited Lisbon for holidays. Before that I had enjoyed a (cheap) Port every now and then. It already was one of my favorite drinks, but I never gave it another thought. When I'm on holidays, I like to taste as many different specialities and local food as I can, so Portugese ...

The reason why I don't post much is that I'm just a beginning port lover. I love the wine to bits, but am still very much in the early learning stage. In the few weeks since I discovered this forum I've learned so much interesting facts, that I'm glad I registered. So on the part of the 'port knowle...
