Re: Gonzalez, Byass and co. 1960 vintage port.
RDadd: There is a vague plan for a horizontal tasting of 1960 ports, some time in their fiftieth anniversary year (2010, of course), perhaps near the time of Tom’s 50th birthday. Would you be willing to delay consumption of your GB60, instead using it as a ticket (or, depending on the arrangements,...

Re: Gonzalez, Byass and co. 1960 vintage port.
Hello and welcome: you have posted in the correct place. Uncle Tom, born 1960, and a collector of that vintage (and every other) may well know a lot about this wine. I will invite him.

Re: NEW MEMBER HOOKED ON PITTERS PORT.
Please do post tasting notes: we like hearing opinions. For example, if I taste a Fonseca 1985, I know what to expect. And my memory of what I tasted the last few times might influence what I think I taste this time. But somebody new to it may well say ‟Xxxxxx!” ” only for the old-timers to say ‟th...

You also asked for prices: do check wine-searcher.com, which is excellent at that sort of thing. (And, for a regular drinker of others wines, well worth the small cost of upgrading to wine-searcher professional.)

I’d love to attend a 1955 horizontal, but ideally it would be later in the year.

Re: New Member in Need of Help
Most likely to impress a proto-father-in-law? Fonseca 1963, followed by the Fonseca 1977. Both fantastic wines. You should be laying down the Fonseca 1985 (I know, I am) for later drinking. But if the recession is hurting, Dow 1963 and Warre 1980 would still be more than acceptable. (I was mean: my ...

Maybe this will be useful (though perhaps not the third page). If you tell me the name of the company where you work, I’ll add that.
(Please check that I have correctly translated column titles on the page for tasting notes.)

Do you want placemats? On A4, no names of drinkers, fairly plain and simple? If yes say here. (Maybe DRT will do them, failing which I will.)

Re: Graham vertical in New York
Okay , called up wineconsigners about the 1960 .... purchased sotheby's auction 11/17/06 .. capsule branded with grahams 1960. no signs of seepage. Fill is very top shoulder. G-man won’t be adopting at the Graham vertical. That's a pricey decade! Be nice to include a G55, and even a G45” . They won...

According to www.wine-searcher.com/prof/ the cheapest G63 in the US is at www.wineconsigners.com for a mere $260, who also have Graham 1960 for $150.

Maybe. Possibly. Probably. And family Paris more likely than the UK.
But New York tastings will continue, driven forward by g-man and the crew.

It is possible that, some time in 2009 Q2, I shall be returning to the old world. One possibility is that all my port could travel with me. Another is that some of it forms the core of some tastings, here in the new world under its new President(-to-be). Possible themes include: ! [ 1977 horizontal...
