Re: 2021 Declarations
Graham's have posted on Twitter that they have declared a 2021 Stone Terraces, as predicted by Alex. They say they will bottle 4,800 75cl bottles and 280 tappit hens (225cl). I was intrigued to see that they've only declared the Stone Terraces but no mention of a regular Graham VP. It'll be interes...

Yes, they are the "normal" shaped bottles like they used in 2016 and 2017.

Re: A newbie question on provenance
I have only tried the Croft '03 (a bit underwhelmed, seemed somewhat simple, lacking fruit). I don't know whether or not you are aware, but Vintage Port tends to go through what we call a "down" phase that starts around 5-10 years after bottling and then lasts for perhaps 10-15 years. Ver...

Full marks for referring to the big bottles of 2016 and 2107 of Stone Terraces as tregnums. You are absolutely correct. Even though most wine sites probably use the terms interchangeably, I tend to use tregnum for 2.25 liter standard shape bottles and Tappit Hen for everything else in that volume r...

Re: Thu 30 March 2023 - An Online Tasting with Friends
I need to get a 6-pack or so of the 2015 Quinta dos Malvedos to add to future verticals. I probably don't need 2 full cases of 2021 Stone Terraces, but if I can find them I'll certainly buy them! That's what I picked up of 2016 and 2017, not counting the tregnums. I ultimately bought a total of 2 ca...

I, at least, would prefer to be corrected! I'm slowly learning Portuguese via Duolingo, but unfortunately it is Brazilian and not continental. I know some of the "rules" to switch between the two, but far from all of them. Combine that with what I'm sure is a very thick American accent, an...

I don't think there's any need to keep them secret - it's not like we're all gathering in one place for a blind tasting!
I have a 10 Year Old S. Leonardo White Port open, and if that turns out to be insufficient I'll probably open a 1995 or 1997 Porto Souza VP.

Once Glenn is finished, we can switch over to his account and continue for as long as we wan...

Re: which are the biggest quintas?
Carvalhas, Vesuvio, Vargellas, and Vale Meao are all quite large. But as I posted on FTLOP, there are really two answers to this question:
1) largest physically
2) largest in terms of cultivated land (land under vine)
Some very large quintas in the Douro are only relatively sparsely planted.

I'll post here as I get further information, but it looks like we may need to delay the start until 7:00 pm London time. (I was go...

Is anyone willing and able to host us on Zoom, and to send out the Zoom invites? Sometimes we have a loose theme - IIRC we've done whites and LBVs before - but most of the time it's just bring something to drink and chat with friends.

Re: Thu 30 March 2023 - An Online Tasting with Friends
In addition to receiving meager allotments of vacation here in the US compared to those of you in the UK/EU, we're often capped on the amount that we can have saved up at any given time. I am (once again) approaching that limit and am considering taking the Thursday off for this tasting. Are we stil...

For example, whilst i knew that the regulation was problematic with usual issues like a bottle of Sercial not having to be exclusively Sercial That's pretty common in the wine industry, actually. In the US the normal limit is that at least 75% must be the as-labeled grape variety, but there are exc...

I’d also avoid F80, but only because it’s not a great wine. Perhaps it’s one for you to buy and try so you can make up your own mind. In my experience, F80 is often very similar to Fr80. Which makes for a very strange Fonseca, but still leaves an often quite nice Ferreira-like Port. Don't go in exp...

Incidentally, I notice that when you visited they had two brands of 20YOT for sale by the bottle. I wonder what the difference between them is? Duque de Braganca is just an older bottling of Dona Antonia. They are allegedly exactly the same Port. I don't recall off the top of my head when they chan...
