Taylor’s [very old] Single Harvest 1961

Another premium release from TFP. A change in pace from every year since 2014 for the 50YO single harvest releases starting with the 1964. I wonder if this signifies a 2x yearly single harvest release to engage both the 50 and 60th celebrations or whether it is just a special bottling. I look forwar...

Re: Nickolls and Perks - Graham’s 200th Anniversary Virtual tasting 2nd December 2020

Agree with all Phil has to say on the evening, apart from the G70. My sample unfortunately had a touch of TCA. So not a fault of the small bottle but a flawed bottle it was taken from. It wasn’t enough to not drink it, but there was enough to make it a touch disappointing and not even close to G70s ...

I have sent the link/login details to Simon to forward to those of you who are interested. The system runs off your browser (i.e., no download required); and, according to my IT guys, there is no "monitor" needed and I cannot screw it up. We shall see, insha'allah. I have sent the link to...

Re: Nickolls and Perks - Graham’s 200th Anniversary Virtual tasting 2nd December 2020

I have secured my tasting pack. Or at any rate I shall have done by 02 December. I likewise have the technical means to set up the afterword. I would invite those interested to send their email addresses to Simon, if he does not already have same; in turn, he will forward them to me and I shall sen...

Re: Latest buy

It must be historical then, as the reason I mention it is that I was told by a Van Zeller that Feist was one of the brands they owned. I had mistakenly presumed currently, but historically would make more sense within the context of the conversation IIRC

Re: VWP Blandy’s Madeira virtual tasting 19th Nov

Lovely wines, great presentation and I now feel I understand the Madeira sector so much more. Thank you to Chris, Tony, Claire and all at Blandy's and VWP that made it happen. I hope there will be more tastings like this. Many thanks.

The films are fun... the second one has a good scene or two at Berry Bros and Rudd (that have named one of their tasting rooms the Kingsman room), but it am sure the port will be more enjoyable!

Looking forward to this tasting tomorrow. I am hoping that we will gather for an after party debrief. Is there a kind soul that is able to facilitate a zoom gathering to celebrate our new knowledge of Madeira?

Given who they’re signed by these are not a current new release pair of bottles.
The letter in the box says they will be at their best between 2010 and 2040 suggesting these were packaged before 2010.

I am not sure anyone has ever linked to Good Housekeeping before as a reference for port buying...so here goes a first! I thought it was worth posting for the refreshingly honest/brutal scores for these ruby ports. The 55/100 on the 100 point scale for the Tesco special reserve made by the Symington...

This looks really nice, but in classic Taylor fashion I expect it to be horribly overpriced for a 500ml bottle. Has anyone see a price yet? Yes, I have: both Vinho Grandes Escolhas and Vinho do Porto Vintage Blog say that the recommended price will be €2900.00 per bottle!! Oh...I thought it would b...

Croft had a very lovey 2011 LBV at good value through Majestic a few years ago. I tend to go for the Barao (Maynards/Fletchers), Sandeman, Noval, Quevedo and some of the older Warre’s. I hope that gives me a good spread of quality on a budget.
