Not sure what you mean! Links to other sites are normal, copying and pasting your own work is normal. Copying and pasting others work has copyright problems and considered rude without a reference. I probably could create a JDAW-only thread but would have to give you a posting category of your own, ...

Give us a graphic

The title graphic on here is a default one. Obviously it says nothing about Port so it's time to start looking around. Can't use a bottle on its side, it's been done. Wide-angle picture of the Douro Valley - maybe. Row of Port bottles or full glasses? See what you've got. The winner will get the pri...

Submissions for graphic would help. If you've got a good picture that is wide then stick a link in. I'll put a sticky in.

Got to agree with Conky on this. It's just another section, I don't want to threaten removal of posts for not following rules, so be civil and sensible is the only rule.

It was registered with them last night but should take a few days for them to run the engines. Give it a week or so and keep posting.

Oops - sorry J. I fully retract my previous statement. It was made without full knowledge of the facts and made in haste. I can not apologise enough for this damnable slur on your character.

So - still no Yanks then? Come on guys, wake up.

See guys, sometimes you have to give an American credit. First one on and he does the right thing. As far as I can see there is no conflict. I have asked the same question on more than one site before with no problems. I've even had different responses from the same person. No sane moderator should ...

Guigal Chateauneuf du Pape 2000

Brought along by James but he let slip that it was from BirDungy's cellar. Tried first with the soup which drowned it. The Syrah came through but the floral notes of the Grenache were killed. Colour was the classic ruby with pink-orange tinge that I always see in CNDP. When we tried it again later t...

Ornellaia Super Tuscan thingy 1995

BirDungy brought this along and very good is is too. Plums, cherries, tannins, acidity, very earthy. Not subtle but full of interest. This was started as the starters came out, three of us having wild mushrrom soup. It went brilliantly. My WOTN.

Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 1997

Ten years old now so time to give it a try. I popped the cork an hour before the rest arrived so it was the first one to be tasted. Fairly deep in colour with reasonable legs. Nose was typically Brunello with the cherries and a nice wiff of alcohol. In the mouth it was very well-balanced, nice acidi...

Of course this may just have been an exceptionally good bottle: Croft Vintage Port 1977 Double decanted in the morning. Another beautiful-looking Croft VP. There is an orange tinge when you pour this which is just so pretty. Lighter than most 1977s it is still a full-bloodied port. Cherry brandy and...

I think you had a badly kept bottle. The one we had a couple of months ago was lovely. Some similar characteristics but they were in balance. I'll go and find the note and attach it.

Pretty good going within one day of startup. Ronnie's contributions to the TNs cannot be understated. With a bit of luck a few more of our friends will signup and we might even get onto Google!

Carry on like this and we will have 3000 per month.

I managed to buy this at a reasonable price as well. Can't remember how much but it looked cheap enough to take a punt on. Haven't opened it yet but if it sits in the "enjoyable" section then I will not be disappointed.

Niepoort Projectos Riesling 2004

Identified as an Old World Riesling not from Germany very quickly. As Stevie had just come back from Portugal, I suggested Portuguese and 2-3 years old. I remain very proud. This is one of Niepoort's projects and making Riesling on the Douro may seem a tragedy but it isn't. Genuinely excellent Riesl...

2000 Fonseca

Black. Tracie burnt her nose smelling it. Tannins so strong it was like chewing a tea-bag. I really couldn't sum this up as enjoyable but it was interesting. Too much power and so young that Al-C should have called the vice squad. Could be amazing one day but I couldn't tell.

1985 Fonseca

About as dark as being in a coal-mine without a helmet-light, there may have been a purple colour in there but could equally have been a trick of the light. Nose was completely absent on first attempt. In the mouth it was better, very tannic and alcoholic but summer-fruit compote hanging around to m...

1970 Fonseca

Eventually got there. Dark, brooding but clear as a bell. Strong alcohol with acid nose gave way to dark fruits but couldn't get the standard coffee and flowers I have always got from older Fonseca. In the end though it came good with cherries, caramel, chocolate and nuts - this was made all the mor...
