Re: Tue 2nd Jan 2018, Bring a Bottle (ideally of 1878)

Will probably be there just after 6.30pm without a bottle of 1878. I think my side order of 'shallots' (aka green beans and shallots) has been omitted from the food order but will address on arrival.

Happy New Year to all!

Blind or sighted?
Let's go blind-I really need to beat that blasted monkey this time!

For food:
Truffle Mac and cheese
Gammon steak and chips with the black pudding but no egg plus a side order of the shallots.

Thanks

Re: Christmas wine and port

On driving duty today but had a very nice D91 from a h/b yesterday; not one for the long term but drinking well at the moment. Probably a G70 for today into tomorrow. Oh and Santa really enjoyed his Maynards over 40yr tawny-the greedy old soak seems to have necked almost half the bottle :) Happy Chr...

Am my eyes receiving me or has my confirmed attendance once again be overlooked- should I reading something into this apparent pattern? Can this oversight be corrected please?

The 1917's cork has been bleached and is now legible - just..!

The first part of the shipper is illegible, but it ends INEZ - so must be Martinez
If that's correct then a certain tome will require a revision as an Mz17 is not listed :D

I believe I can accommodate but for 82 can only offer a N or Ni.
Please may I adopt the other?

No real interest in the circumstances that have given rise to this tasting but for the sake of the Port consider me in. Last time your ignoring of your principles was less grumpy. Whilst I would not consider myself a Monarchist, Port drinking wins out and so please put me down for this tasting. Not...

Re: Wed 29th Nov 2017 - A Cálem (mini-)vertical

How financially punitive would it be to include the ’35? I don't know, but will check. We could add the '35 for around £25/head if wanted (and the '87 probably for less than an extra fiver, though I haven't checked with CPR to confirm). We are currently 11 bottles, with 8/9 people (depending whethe...

Re: Seckford tasting

How was it? Not bad although they had been bowled over by the response which meant that they had to pull the RP 20 yr tawny from the line-up meaning that the only Port on offer was the G97 which is still a bit closed (although that did not prevent me from having a good drop of). Simon and I stayed ...

I'm not sure I can see much change in the menu from the last few times and so I will have:

-truffle mac and cheese
-steak (medium-rare) and chips

Thanks
