Re: Restaurant prices

La Trompette, Chiswick. (Took advantage of free corkage offer in association with Farr Vintners). On prominent display on table immediately upon entering, two splendid (one full, one in the process of being emptied) 4.5l bottles of Graham's 10YO Tawny. Glass (£9.50, 75ml) poured at table very theatr...

Re: Three new members of the Confraria

Will you now exclusively use your tambuladeira at future tastings? Cuts down on glasses, but makes equal pours tricky to judge.

Graham Crusted 98. Better than some I've opened. Slightly stewed nose but sweet fruit and lovely milk chocolate cherry finish. Will get me through tonight (probably).

It looks like "with" to me. I wonder if there is an older use, or perhaps a dialect, where "with" can mean "until"?

Re: Thu 21 April 2016, B&F, Dow versus Graham, pre-BFT

Thank you. An excellent eventing, good company, and very informative. It seems, on analysis, that I like both Dow and Graham and wines both older and younger. My conclusion is I like port. Phew. In the right place then. :D I was glad I thought the 1980s performed well - I need to get more of these I...

Re: Port for sale by retailer

Had a welcome day off today and popped into a local Lidl-Ck's Quinta dos Canais priced at £19.99 but registering at the till at £9.99. I availed myself of the three boxed bottles on the shelf :) Very well done. Worth a trip to see if my nearest Lidl also has some, but sadly they rarely seem to have...

Re: Old white port query

White port of the not so expensive variety makes a more than decent summer drink with the addition of ice and a mixer, say tonic, chuck in some mint and fruit/cucumber. Fizzy water and Ginger and/or Elderflower cordials could also work well. Given these options, and the wine on its own tastes good, ...

Croft or Taylor's would be very welcome underwater, although perhaps not the best match with fresh scallops. Pre-decant into Camel Back or empty Calypso Sun pouch - not pop n pour or would get very messy.

Re: Port for sale by retailer

February Sale by Nickolls and Perks. Large number of wines reduced, several very tempting indeed, but I held firm (mostly). Thanks for the heads up. Some interesting pricing eg is the V94's star that much in the ascendancy that a case is worth over a £100 more than F94?! It is interesting and surpr...
