Re: Port corks with branding on the end

Did not think to ascertain and believe the cork is gone---good excuse to open another which I will do in next month.

Re: LBV with different bottling years: which is "better"?

Anything we say would be speculative---you have the means to procure empirical evidence.

I wonder what Dirk would say....assume this was done before his departure.

Re: Latest buy

6 x Fonseca Quinta do Panascal 1986 (at auction last Sunday). I didn't know this was made (I know of the 1986 Guimaraens). Also the label is somewhat of a mystery to me (I'll try to post a couple of pictures). Does anyone know these kind of labels from Fonseca? And since I don't have a clou when th...

Re: 1995 Quinta do Vesuvio

In May of 2015 my Port Club had a 1995 horizontal. They are drinking well right now, many in the good category with the exception of Churchill Q da Agua Alta (poor) and Dow Q do Bomfim (OK). The WOTN was Graham's Malvedos. Further, while drinking well now I did note a few had more upside potential. ...

Re: Which LBVs are worth cellaring?

I totally agree with the notion that there are many LBVs out there that can benefit from bottle aging. My personal favorites, in no particular order: Smith-Woodhouse Niepoort Crasto (partially because of its very attractive price) Noval (unfiltered) Warre (especially many over 20 y/o) Sent from my ...

Re: New York again, Easter

Are we necessarily one person/bottle? I've found it tends to be a good deal more Port than i can stomach. How do you guys typically do it? In London? Well, 1¼ to 2 bottles per person. Which probably doesn’t help you. JDaw--I suppose we are not professionals over here!!!. Miguel: Take your ti...

Re: New York again, Easter

April 1 would be a good date----Friday but if the consensus says during the week so be it.

Price range...$100-$140 (at least that's what I think what we did at The Palm a few years back).

Theme: Agree. Make it easy. How about anything pre 1990?
