Tonight the choise fell on Springbank 12yo C. s. - Batch 13 - 70% Sherry / 30% Bourbon Casks (16/320) 56,3%ABV.
The Springbank 12 cask strength series are very nice whiskies IMHO, well worth the price whatever it may be. (almost)

Perhaps some of us buy older wines for drinking while we are still alive.

5. DON’T serve or decant old wines soon after arrival. Keep them in cellar for some time.
6. DON’T let stock run low. Newly arrived wines must have time to settle.

I decided that I needed a bottle older than myself in the cellar, so I bought a Ch. Mosse Rivesaltes 1946. What it tastes like, I do not know, but reviews are favourable.

To me the answer was clear right from the start.
