Re: 1985 Graham

Similar in colour to G83. Maybe 70%ish. Smelt and tasted of oranges and plums. Minty aftertaste. Alcohol noticeable but welcomed.

Re: 1976 Graham Malvedos

Not many notes for this. Pale, tawny in colour. Tangy on the tongue like an orange with slight hints of caramel and spice. Not much sediment. A nice wine. I guessed W66.

Re: 1985 Calem

Lighter than g83/85. Maybe 65%. Not very nice on the nose, attributed to bottle stink. 1hr later it had opened up. Sweet and clingy round the mouth. Figs and tangy fruit detected. Average, wouldn't look out for it specifically.

Dark! Sticky and hot on the tounge. Tasted of bitter raspberries - and almost like it was just picked p off the cellar floor - very chilled. Fine sediment- one to look out for.

Re: 1995 Vesuvio

Similar colour to OBV 83. Very dark, maybe 80%. Strong, overpowering smell of berries and vanilla (only detected after DRT mentioned it). Jammy taste that didn't last longer than 30 seconds. Consider buying more.

A thoroughly enjoyable event was had by all. It was a pleasure to meet new faces. Of note was the Offley 83, which exceeded my expectations and is something I will look out for in the future.

Not many notes for this; vicious and rather oxidised but the unknown element remains rather interesting.

Decanted for 10 hours prior to serving. Tasted spicy yet jammy with a slight whiff of plums. A long spicy aftertaste;different to the smoothness of the Grahams.

Re: 25th September at the Bunghole

A thoroughly enjoyable evening and it was good to catch up after a long period away. I found every port to be pleasing and there were none (bar the slightly smelly unknown) that I would be ashamed to have in my cellar.

12 x Warre 1977 'from the cellars of an Oxford College' at the Bonhams auction today. £40 a bottle so not to bad for something to drink over the next few years. Of note from the auction was that most lots went for far over their estimate.

6 x Taylor's 1970 VP. At £70 a bottle i thought this was well priced. Levels are top shoulder or in neck but unfortunately most of the labels have slipped off.

UK port storage advice

The time has come to move out of the family home and therefore I am looking for wine storage centres for approximately 70 bottles of old VP I have collected over the years. The only issue being they are odd bottles or pairs. Does anybody know of any storage facilities that will accept these? Ideally...

Re: Looking for 14 half bottles of port

North Cray Tesco, SE London, has 1/2 bottles of Croft LBV 2004 at £4. I'm unsure if they are currently running the 25% off deal but say they were, £3 is probably the best you will find at retail.
