Topic: Should Vargellas be bottled more often?

I suppose the answer depends on how much of the Vargellas juice goes into the full vintage blend. It may be that there isn't enough left of a high enough quality to make a viable release of the SQVP in a declared year. On the basic question, my answer would be yes, I'd like to see more of the SQVP a...

I may be losing the plot slightly here. Hmmmm  I agree that aged Tawny's, particularly 20 yrs and over, will have had far more exposure to air than your average bottle aged wine but what about the young uns? A 50 year old VP with a dodgy cork will have had hundreds of times more oxygen than y...

12th July is some sort of meaningful day in Scotland. It is either the opening of the Grouse shooting season or the day when men with orange sashes walk through the streets of lanarkshire towns beating drums and blowing flutes in celebration of the life and times of a Dutchman named Billy Either way...

That confuses me when you consider old VP's. They have aged in the bottle and gained oxidisation through exposure to air through the cork (or so we are told :? ). Why is it then that when you pop open a leaker or a very old VP it is unlikely to last more than a few hours before falling apart - where...

Why do Tawny's last longer than others once opened

KillerB's TN on Dow's 10 yr old made me think of this again.

Why is it that Tawny ports seem to have much more staying power after they are opened than the red ports do? Is it just the extra oxidisation they get during the ageing process or is something else causing this?

I have had it reported to me that St Helens is to the north of the Rivers Thames and Severn. That being the case I doubt I will be able to make it. Rich, Rare and Red by Ben Howkins - mainly focused on the history of the wine rather than specific wines and vintages like some of the others listed above.
