Derek,
Given that only a tiny fraction of Vesuvio's production gets bottled as QdoV, they are not exactly short of supply.
I'll wager that the cost of making the case and it's trappings is a lot more than the cost of producing two extra bottles!

Taylor did declare '75 - but along with Graham (and closely followed by Croft) it is a wine that bucks the negative reputation of the '75 vintage - not a superstar, but declaration-worthy.. ~~~ Another day and this wine keeps getting better - much better - but who would normally wait this long? Anyo...

Can I be nosey? If I was to drink a Taylors 83, or similar bottle, I would need an occasion. Doesn't have to be much, a friend visiting, a birthday, etc, etc. I get the feeling your lucky enough to have the cellar and the inclination to just 'Open a bottle'. Is that true or do you attach it to a reas...

the stainless steel filter does leave some sediment in the decanter If the sediment is fine and the wine dark, it's hard to avoid a little getting into the decanter. While the last glass may end up being a tad cloudy - it's often the best one out of the decanter - a little wispy sediment does not s...

101 things to do with a Vesuvio bin label..
Every case of Vesuvio comes complete with a nice pottery bin label, neatly packed in it's own little black and white box.. ..but how many people use bins for storing their bottles these days?? I have a stack of those little boxes in my cellar, and while I'm loathe to throw them away, I haven't a clu...

Fill levels were always a bit vague until Christies first published their much copied diagram about 20 years ago. The daft thing is that even Christies don't stick to it when describing lots! Here is my guide to port fill level acronyms. This is broadly consistant with the Christies diagram and actu...

Well, evolve it has - but slowly! After 24 hours it was more presentable, but still fiery and weak on the nose - at this point I did wonder if it might be very slightly corked. Now, this evening, after 48 hours, it is finally coming together, with the fire much reduced, and nose much better - not co...

My experiance of the 92's is very limited, and, so far, disappointing. Of the 91's I've had, my consistant feeling is that these are still in the 'Kevin' phase. Each to his own of course, but I'm not rushing to put them on my drinking list at the moment - I have a gut feeling that the 91's will real...

OK, what's with all the port plonk sub titles??
Why is my name sub-titled 'Cruz Ruby' while others have Cockburn's Ruby and Fonseca Bin 27?

First bottle out of a case bought last year. The folly of totally opaque glass comes home when bottles reach this age - how does one spot the bottle that is losing level faster than the others, and should therefore be drunk first? As it was, I picked this bottle because it had the worst label - the ...

I'm wondering if we should have a marketplace section, or an Auction News section.
