Re: One quiz at a time
One question did occur to me. October was rather a modestly busy port acquiring month for me - what volume of port did I acquire? (To the nearest 1cl.)

It was October 2005 when we had that fantastic diagonal tasting.
So should October 2010 see a repeat of that great theme? Perhaps with Dow replacing Sandeman? If there's a positive response in this thread then I will start up a thread in the Offlines forum.

Perhaps it is to sit between the filter paper and the funnel in order to speed the flow of the wine through the paper

Steve Welcome to the website, we are always delighted to help people who have enquiries like yours - it's always fun to hear from someone who has had the good luck like you have to find a real gem. Sandeman '35 was / is a great port. Whether your particular bottle will be is a question of how it was...

Surely that's asking two questions in one go? Isn't that cheating?DRT wrote:Clue: At least two very famous wine merchants still exist in the same street. It might be a good idea to guess the street first.

Please post us a picture of the bottles when you can. You may have just bought yourself 3 bottles of the never-before-seen Martinez 1931 - or 3 bottles of Martinez Ordinary Ruby (bottled in 1947). But whichever it is, we'd love to know!

I'm up for it. I'm not sure which date suits me best, but for the moment I could make any of the suggested dates but with a slight preference for not Friday.

Re: Bullocks’ blood
Good grief. So I should be keeping all my old port bottles unrinsed so that I can refill them and sell them on as 15 years old port. More seriously, I wonder if maturing unfiltered ruby port in a bottle full of old lees would improve the taste of the port. I might buy a couple of bottles of an unfil...
