Because I fancy some port. Only reason.

Because I fancy some port. Only reason. (You see, I always fancy some port. So that reasons hold true every time I open a bottle. Supplementary reasons include the wife fancying port, a port tasting, or just because I fancy some port. It’s really that easy.)

Nine in ten are VP.

It is an excellent avatar. Well done.

It is an excellent avatar.
• It speaks of you and yours;
• It is stylish; and
• It is not so loud or moving as to distract a reader from the text.
Well done.

I would rather it were slightly narrower, but that would lose resolution so I’m not doing any of my usual grumbles.

No. Use Paint or like software to make your own avatar. Something that speaks distinctively of you or yours, rather than a child’s rendering of an explosion in a flag factory.

decanting into micro-decanters, holding one glass each

Suggesting decanting into micro-decanters, holding one glass each. Perhaps the technique would be to decant directly into twenty-odd glasses, and … (stop me when this gets silly, like, perhaps, now)

T83: terrible

In my limited experience Taylor 1983 is Taylor’s worst declaration since the war (unless they declared 1975?); and Taylor 1983 is the worst 1983 of the major houses. I am not a fan.

1985 Ramos Pinto

Having rather enjoyed the Ramos Pinto at my 1985 horizontal in March , I bought Soho Wines ’ entire stock, that being a mere three bottles, for the trifling sum of $55 each. http://www.jdawiseman.com/ftlop/20070623-rp85-bottle.jpg Cork extracted easily with screwpull. Software that makes placemats

Custom placemats As some users of this BB already know, at jdawiseman.com/papers/placemat/placemat.html is some free software, open-source as well, that makes elegant placemats for use in a port tasting (or the like). Clearly labelled placemats really do help avoid confusion later in the evening. T...

1. Reply notifications currently come from what appears to be Alex K’s real human email address. They should actually come from something that doesn’t mention a human’s name.
