Re: Monday 15th February - a short notice emergency
Alex, you're somewhat of a saviour! Having been very disappointed to have had to miss last week's tasting, I find a replacement in short order. Therefore, count me in and I note the tried and tasted theme.

All, unfortunately it looks as though I will be unable to attend this pm. My wife was ill overnight and in the absence of anyone else to look after her or my daughter, once again I am going to be a no show. My apologies for the late withdrawal

12 Offley Boa Vista 1994. Everyone has their price, it is said, and 9% off appears to be mine. I had been succesfully resisting this for quite a while, and then Nickolls and Perks have a sale. I bought this from N&P some time ago at the pre-sale price, which i thought was attractive at the time...

Re: Port for sale by retailer
Thanks for the heads up. Some interesting pricing eg is the V94's star that much in the ascendancy that a case is worth over a £100 more than F94?!DaveRL wrote:February Sale by Nickolls and Perks. Large number of wines reduced, several very tempting indeed, but I held firm (mostly).

Re: Emergency, B&F, Monday 8th February 2016
Apologies for the tardiness in responding (things have been very busy recently). However, I propose to bring an OBV 70 (now stood up). Will almost certainly be decanted around 7am. For the food I will revert to type and order: the Potted Shrimp on granary Gammon, chips and black pudding (no egg) plu...

Re: Coheita versus VP
This is an interesting idea and so count me in. Given the (albeit limited) 1975 experience, I wonder whether we should target so-so vintage years (83 or 85) comes to mind, although ultimately, it will depend on what people have. You're also primarily only going to include non UK shippers and thus th...

Re: 75@40
For practical reasons the OBV and T had to be decanted this morning-the former single-decanted (as I lost the bottom half of the cork) and the latter double. Both appeared to be fine although with this current cold I'm trying to shake off, I couldn't be sure. I'm still hoping to arrive between 6.30 ...

No problems with this contribution.AHB wrote:I'm told it's a people carrier so should be able to fit all of us in.djewesbury wrote:NB that I've also emailed Alex earlier so is this a large enough taxi?
It's costing me £30 for each part of the journey. Are people happy with contributing £5 per person per trip?

Just in case it helps anyone decide what to bring or when / how to open their bottles, I plan to bring along a pair of port tongs and Tom has promised a blazing coal fire. If anyone wants to open their bottle(s) with port tongs you would be welcome to borrow the tongs (I'll make sure I also have fu...

Today our local Sainsbury have many ports and champagne reduced, plus the 25% off for 6 bottles (mixed wine, port, champagne) offer as well. Was going to post the same adding that the Graham's Crusted 2002/2003 was already reduced from £20 to £15 making the per bottle cost £11.25 as part of the off...

Re: A Gould Campbell vertical
I"m of the traditionalist persuasion but with the increasing number of SFE brands and the burgeoning BOB market, something had to give. Am I right in thinking that QH has already gone the same way? Anyhow certainly up for a vertical 'wake' . Can probably offer a '70.

Mayday, mayday, we have a problem! Whilst I have the W85 try as I might I have not been able to locate the bottle of SW85 that I'd swear I have somewhere. My apologies for this- I can offer a likely poor substitute in the form of Harvey's 85 but is anyone able to plug the gap left by my poor cellar ...
