A company not known for excellent Ruby ports. Their tawnys are sometimes better. But very hit and miss. It’s a company who has good quinta locations but they just can’t seem to make really good ports. No idea why. I do know it’s mostly a multi-family owned (think old quinta do Noval before AXA bough...

Re: Filtration

Paper filters for wine/port are horrible. They strip way too much out and leave wine tasting what is best described as metallic to me.

Re: NV Rodrigo Tawny

Regulation was lowered for certain categories of ports, forgot which. QH is not dead as a brand, it’s been put into hiatus (easiest way to explain). I could think of a few scenarios to use QH as the producer. - don’t want SFE listed on label - keep QH used to prevent various loss of rights related t...

Re: Graham's Bicentenary Collection

I’m mostly confused as to why someone might spend £140K on a drinks cabinet and then fill it it with what appear to be 3 bottles of Penfolds Bin 28; 5 bottles of another Penfolds wine; 2 bottles of Grey Goose; and singles of Nolly Prat, Ketel One, Bombay Sapphire; Cointreau; and that Scotch that ha...

Keep in mind, there is a lot of extremely wealthy people who have the money and space in their mansion for just such a thing.

It is a beautiful piece of furniture and I wouldn’t mind having one. Unfortunately, my budget will have to decline such thoughts.

I’ve had varying results with this port the few times I’ve had it. Generally being more on the past best and drink soon side. And agree with you about the spirit.

Re: Vintage 2022

I report that I starded harvesting yesterday :D How does that compare to recent years? Churchill’s say they have started at Quinta da Gricha so I presume we are in full swing in the Douro now. I've never started this early. Even considering that for the first time I'll be supplying grapes to a spar...

Re: Vintage 2022

It's almost impossible to make bad Port these days, unless you really want to. There's been quite a seismic change on that front. We've not had a really problematic vintage since '93. Prior to that, rubbish years happened around twice a decade. Wasn't either 2001 or 2002 pretty bad? Not as bad as '...

Re: Vintage 2022

My understanding is it has been very dry and a sustained heat (aka: very hot) this year. Not a great combo for grapes so early in the ripening cycle, generally speaking. Hopefully permanent damage hasn't already happened and some rain comes that refreshes things and the harvest turns out well. Keepi...

Does anyone know if 2020 Graham will be released anywhere besides England? I need to decide if I should get some in England and have it sent to Seckfords, or if I can wait until it arrives in the US which usually takes an extra 6-12 months. It is available now in the USA at www.vintageandfinewines....

No skin in game being other side of the pond, but the under stairs have not been kind to the bottles. Most show signs of seepage, which means conditions their weren’t so good for long term storage. That will affect, by a great deal, their overall worth. Which isn’t a lot to begin with, sorry to say.

Re: 2020 Declarations

Well, Andy, Warre made 6000 bottles of 2009 and you can still buy it at release price here in the UK. I agree that 2400 bottles is a smaller release, so you may be right. But both of them are equally tiny by port standards. What did they make of 1977 - 180,000? That is precisely why 77 (and similar...
