if you´re interested in technical data of BURTONS 1982: http://www.cavesmessias.pt/uk/loja_produtos_info.php?Produto_ID=220 For 20€ I would purchase it, just for curiosity. it is the only vintage where Messias use this label. by the way, if your compare to declared Messias VP 1982, there a surprisi...

Re: 06 June 2012, The Bung Hole, Farewell to Anait

At our 70's tasting in November 2011 in Leverkusen we had two different bottlings: The perfect bottle was from Dolamore, London and second one was a Morgon Furze & Co, London bottling, this was not bad, but shows not real face of this very good port. So maybe the Deinhard bottling is similiar to...

Was the Taylor 70 an Oporto bottling or english bottler?

Re: tasting notes of Vintage Ports 2009

Hi Rob, in my opinion the Single Quinta Senhora da Ribeira does not representate what is typical for Dow. For me the Senhora da Ribeira is more dominatet by easy, but strong fruit (blackberry and blackcurrent) and much sweeter then a classic Dow. But for the Symingtons it makes sense to do something...

tasting notes of Vintage Ports 2009

An unusual year - overrated, classic or exceptionell? My tasting notes: Now that I have on several occasions, most of the wines several times, partially blind, I am of the opinion that 2009 was a very good year for vintage port. Some wines are excellent, even if you have to say in general that were...

Grande KOPKE Colheita vertical from 1935 - 1995

At 16th of March ten Port lovers take part at a great KOPKE Colheita vertical in Frankfurt / Germany. We tasted 11 KOPKE Colheitas from 1935 to 1995, with a minimum of one Colheita per decade. There were some bottles with significant bottle age and some were bottled in the last two years. So we had ...

Re: 1994 Quinta do Passadouro

Passadouro 94 I had a year ago in a compared tasting with Passadouro 92. I liked the 94 more, even the 94 had a little alcoholic finish, but is more fresh and more complex then the 92.

Re: 1995 Quinta do Passadouro

I had the same expierence with Passadouro 1995. I had 3 bottles, one normal and two half, all three were faulty. I think with this Port was something seriously wrong during the bottling (or maybe at fortification). All three smell like nail polish, it was for sure nor a bad storing either a cork pro...

I had Croft 66 in February in a blind tasting and was absolutely suprised about how good it is. I guessed it for a Fonseca 70, a VP I like very much.

yes you are right, I would love to buy this collection, but I have to refuse, I'm actually too young for this 9000 bottle lot, I want to drink port longer than 24 years :330000:

Re: 9,000-bottle Port collection for sale

if there is an average of 50 pounds per bottle (what is very low if the most bottles came from early 20th century and before), that would mean the price for the whole lot ist 450.000 pounds... and if you drink one bottle a day, you will need around 24 years to empty this lot... (if you are still ali...

Re: 2010 Port to buy to store for next 20 years

Hello Henry, as the first reply said, you have to wait at least to middle of the year 2012 to buy any Vintage Port of 2010. As I know it is really improbable that the Fladgate Group will make any Single Quinta VP, but I guess that Sogevinus maybe plan to bottle some Kopke Quinta Sao Luiz VP 2010. So...

Re: Interview with Pedro Sá about the magic of Kopke Colheit

My opinion to this question is, that it is not possible to give a definitive answer. But so far, to Kopke Colheitas I would say that it is bettter to drink they in the first 10years after bottling. We had the 1935, 1938, and 1947 who were bottled from 1984 to 1990, more then 20years in bottle and th...

Interview with Pedro Sá about the magic of Kopke Colheitas

In the run up to the great rarities Kopke Colheita (the line up incl. the Colheitas of 1935, 1938, 1947, 1957, 1974, 1978, 1982, 1984 and 1995) tasting in March 2012 in Frankfurt, Christopher Pfaff of Passion Port talked to the man who is responsible for the vinification of these outstanding wines: ...
